Summary of Onchocerciasis
Onchocerciasis or River Blindness is a relatively common parasitic disease. Spread by the blackfly which is found along flowing water, River Blindness is prevalent in Africa and South America. Symptoms take a long time to become obvious (9-24 months) and include nodules, uncontrollable itching, swelling of skin and blindness. Thankfully, today medical treatment is available to those infected which greatly improves the prognosis of the infected. However, if the disease isn't treated or
